5 Indoor Activities for Kids in Pensacola

By Cassandra Bulava September 25, 2018

Is the weather outside frightful? Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered (no pun intended!) with these 5 ideas for indoor activities in Pensacola with kids:

Location: WSRE PBS Imagination Station (all ages welcome, best for ages 0-5)

Cost: Free (Donations encouraged)

Hours: Mon-Sat, 9 am-Noon

Why my kids like it: There is a special area for crawlers and she can play and explore safely while also testing her balance and pull up on things without help! She also really enjoys seeing other kids her size and mimicking them!

Why I like it: Imagination station is perfect because it's dry and cool so we can easily plan play dates without worrying about rain or extreme heat! I love that we can socialize with current friends or meet new ones and I don't have to worry because I know she can play safely with age appropriate objects. There are computer screens and a lot of imaginative play, puzzles, etc as well and the site says they aim to help prepare children for kindergarten.

Location: MESS Hall

Cost: Free for members, $8 for ages 3 years and up

Hours: Tues-Fri: 1 pm-5 pm, Saturday: 10 am-5 pm

Why my kids like it: My daughter spent the day in a wrap but she loved watching her cousins play here! We brought my niece who is 11 and nephew who is 8 and they loved it! Due to the size of the room I thought it would be a short activity, but they loved it and played for 2 hours!

Why I like it: I love that they can explore and get messy without me having to gather supplies or worry about the messes! I was also able to easily see the older kids while feeding the baby.

Why my kids like it: Our daughter loves to just watch all of the balls rolling, look at the lights, and dance to the music! We've met friends and their children loved the bumpers and using the alligator (3 & 5 years old) to knock down pins.

Why I like it: We tend to go around 6 pm and it's usually packed with families on Fridays and Saturdays! I love that there's something for everyone and the overall atmosphere is very welcoming!

Location: Pensacola Children's Museum

Cost: 3yo+: $4, Adults: $8, other pricing and discounts as well, see below

Hours: Mon: Closed, Tues-Sat: 10 am- 4 pm, Sun: 12 pm- 4 pm

Why my kids like it: A museum where kids are encouraged to touch everything! She mainly explored the downstairs due to her age and liked the puzzles, the sounds when we pushed buttons on the walls, etc.

Why I like it: It's a different activity with so much for her to explore without me having to worry about what she has found! There's a lot of information and a lot of room for her to develop and enjoy as she gets older!

Location: Bounce House of Pensacola

Cost: Infants: Free, Crawlers: $5, 1-3 yo: $10, 4-12 yo: $12, 13-17 yo $10

Hours: Mon-Thurs: 10 am-6 pm, Fri & Sat: 10 am- 7 pm, Sun: 11 am- 5 pm

Why my kids like it: She can crawl around and go wherever she wants without having many limits! Our niece and nephew loved climbing around and playing with each other on the inflatables and slides as well as following our daughter around and playing with her.

Why I like it: This space is very clean for a children's center and we love that it's indoors for the very hot or rainy days! We try to go during the week midday so it's not super busy.
