Boo Your Friends: A Halloween Tradition + FREE Printable

By Kyrie Collins, Highlands Ranch-Parker-Castle Rock-Lone Tree Publisher October 9, 2018

One October my kids and I arrived home after a day of running errands and discovered a surprise on our front porch: a goodie bag filled with treats and a sign that said "You've Been Boo-ed!" We've been what?

This fun tradition is a popular activity in our neighborhood through the whole month of October, and my kids couldn't wait to return the favor and "Boo" a couple of their friends. We went to the dollar store to pick out a few items like Halloween pencils, erasers, stickers, tattoos and some candy too, then put together our Boo Bags. The best part was watching my kids get as excited about giving as they were about getting!

Start this tradition in your own neighborhood! Just follow these simple instructions and you'll be Boo-ing in no time!

  1. Put together two Halloween baskets or bags with fun treats (we used simple brown lunch bags decorated with stickers). You can include sweet treats and/or Halloween-themed decorations and favors. Just think about the ages of the families you'll be boo'ing and have fun putting together something that will be enjoyed by everyone.
  2. On the outside of the basket or bag, attach the following printable. Click the image below to download and print.
  3. Pick two friends/neighbors and secretly drop your "boo" on their front step! Don't let them see you!
  4. Watch the "Boos" spread!
